The Nirvana Pinot Noir may be at once our most powerful yet elegant wine. The 2019 is a regal ruby purple in the glass, and the aromatics are reassuringly complex and forward, with strawberry, raspberry and cherry liqueur, followed by vanilla, root beer, cinnamon, clove and cedar. It’s a lot to take in, but Nirvana is just like that. Upon first sip the flavors wash over your tongue, first dark cherry, candied strawberry, plum, cranberry and pomegranate, then into the mix come vanilla, cola, with hints of graphite and caramel sneaking in prior to the lovely juiciness of the lingering finish. Serve with roasted figs alongside a pork tenderloin, with only your favorite few wine lovers.
