2016 Sonoma Valley Estate Pinot Noir

The Sonoma Valley Pinot Noir grows on five acres on the left side of the driveway as you enter Nicholson Ranch. It is the last of the Pinot Noirs to be picked every year but the first to be ready to drink. This wine showcases the fruit flavors of Pinot Noir as a young wine because it is softer than our hillside Pinot Noirs. The wine is a lustrous translucent ruby red with aromas of cherry, root beer and cedar. The wine feels soft on the first sip releasing flavors of strawberry jam, red cherries and cola. Richer flavors of raspberries, black currant and dried cranberries fill up your palate. The wine is evenly balanced with bright acidity sharpening up the roundness of the texture. The finish is smooth echoing aromas of berries accented by orange zest.
